Workouts

As I stated on my dreams page I said for the month of May I wanted to extend my workouts to 6 days a week. I have been very busy with school and work and haven't been able to keep up with it. I have being doing 4 days a week but I still have yet to complete a full week with 6 days. I have started to see some progress on my core muscles. Last month I was working out 3 days a week for 30 minutes and since May first I have gone from doing 3 workouts a week for 30 minutes to at least 4 times a week for 45 minutes and the progress is really being made.

Old Times

I was searching through my facebook pictures and stumbled across this picture. My friend took this picture this year. Unfortunately this wasn't me doing a backflip but during this picture I was inverted (left foot forward.) There are two types of ways to snowboard, goofy which is right foot forward, and regular which is left foot forward. When I ride I'm goofy so when I said i was inverted I was landing the way that is not natural for me. Not the most difficult trick but when you do land it, it grabs the attention of other riders because it does look really good.

workout schedule

Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday- are my workout days. I chose these days because Im usually free, but if I were to miss one of my days I would just do it on a different day. My workouts have ranged from 20 minutes to an hour. I have researched some different abdominal workouts and have been trying new ones out. The most intense one I've done would be the superman. The superman is when you lie down on your stomach and you bring your chest and legs off the ground simultaneously and you do 15 reps 3 sets. I never look forward to doing it but afterwards I feel like I really accomplished something. I haven't worked on my arms that much because I am focusing on the muscles that I will be using for my next winter snowboard season!

Snowboard boots

These are my snowboard boots which I purchased in December. They are the Nike Vapens 2014. Transworld snowboard ranked these boots number 2 on they're top ten snowboard boots list for 2014. These boots have a memory foam inside for peak comfort. My last snowboard boots broke on me so I really broke the bank and went all out and bought these boots before I went to the mountains. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone that is looking to buy new snowboard boots. I have no regrets.

The backflip

On Saturday March 8th I went to a place near my house called Chief Pegius trail. It is just a small hill that not many people know about and I built myself a jump. The jump was about 4 feet tall and was very vertical to help me with my backflip. So I sat at the top of the hill for about 5 minutes just visualizing how it is going to look and eventually I just went for it. My first attempt I made the full rotation but my board got stuck in the snow so I didn't ride away from it. The second attempt went very well, felt like I had perfect form from the start and I landed my first backflip ever. It felt amazing. My mentor couldn't make it to video tape because she is very busy and I can't wait to long because the snow is melting and I needed to get this backflip done. I'm very happy with how my backflip turned out and that I didn't get hurt.

Skyzone Gone Wrong

Hey everyone, on Sunday Febuary 16 I went to skyzone. If you don't know what skyzone is it is a giant building with a lot of trampolines. You are probably wondering how this has anything to do with my passion project. The main reason I went to skyzone is to practice my backflip to get me ready for when i attempt it on the snow. When i was at skyzone all I did was do backflips to get my rotation down. While I was doing one of my backflips I under roatated and actually dislocated my shoulder. Despite the fact that that happened Im still ready to do my backflip on the snow. So the trip to skyzone was a success I guess.

Hello everyone, my name is Trevor Dalmaijer. Ever since I have started the beautiful art of snowboarding I have always wanted to do a backflip. This passion project will really help me fulfill my dream. But as we all know winter doesn't last till June so I will also be researching snowboarding, researching techniques on how to better myself as a snowboarder. But my main goal is to complete my backflip. I have a friend who can do backflips so she will be my mentor and she will also be video taping my first attempt and if all goes as planned I should be able to post the video here on my blog, so stay tuned. I will also be researching about my favorite snowbaorder Mark McMorris. He was my inspiration to start snowboarding. So hit that follow button and expect great things to come.
